Hiding the Ship’s
Heading Marker
(SHM)
➤ You use the context sensitive cursor to select and move the centerof the radar
picture(the label CTR is displayed).See Moving and deleting items with the
context-sensitive cursor on page 1-17

➤ To returnthe center of the radar picture to the center ofthe screen, select the
centerpoint (CTR ) then press theCLEAR key. The center is alwaysresetto the
centerof the display when you turn on the Radar display.
Note: When the center is offset, additional range rings are displayed to the
edgeof theradarpicture,at thestandardring intervalforthecurrent range.If
you have selected the longest range scale, you cannot offset the center.
Hiding the Ship’s Heading Marker (SHM)
Theradarpictureincludestheship’sheadingmarker,whichisalinefromyour
vessel’s positionto the edge of the picture at the vessel’s current heading. In
thestandard Head Up mode, the heading marker is always a verticalline.
If you wish to check for small targetsthat may be hidden under the heading
marker, you can hide it momentarily using the context-sensitive cursor.
➤ To hidethe heading marker:
1. Positionthe cursor over the headingmarker, so that the text SHM is dis-
played.
2. Pressandhold CLEAR.The headingmarkeris hidden until youreleasethe
CLEAR key.
