Solving
This chapter providesinformation on routine maintenanceand on possible
causesof problems you may experiencewith your display unit.
9.1 Maintenance
WARNING:
The displayunit contains high voltage.Adjustmentsrequirespecialized
serviceprocedures and tools only availableto qualifiedservice
technicians - thereareno user serviceable parts or adjustments and the
operatorshould not attempt to service the equipment. The operator
should not remove the rear cover of the display.
Switchoff the display unit before removingthe power cord.
Routine Checks
The displayis a sealedunit. Maintenance proceduresare therefore limited to
the following periodicchecks:
Wipe the display clean with a damp cloth (ensurepower is off).
Examinethe cables for signs of damage, such as chafing, cuts or nicks.
Check that the cable connectors arefirmly attached.
EMC Servicing and Safety Guidelines
Raymarineequipment should be serviced only by authorized Raymarine
servicetechnicians. They will ensure thatservice procedures and replace-
mentpartsusedwillnotaffectperformance. There are no userserviceable
partsin any Raymarine product.
Some products generate high voltages, so never handle the cables/connec-
tors when power is being suppliedto the equipment.
When powered up, all electrical equipment produceselectromagnetic
fields.These can cause adjacentpieces of electrical equipment to interact
withoneanother,withaconsequentadverseeffectonoperation.Inorderto
minimisetheseeffectsandenableyoutogetthebestpossibleperformance
from yourRaymarine equipment,guidelines are given in the installation
instructions,to enableyou to ensure minimum interaction between differ-
ent itemsof equipment,i.e. ensure optimum Electromagnetic Compatibil-
ity (EMC).
Always report any EMC-related problem to yournearest Raymarine
dealer. We use such information to improve our qualitystandards.
