1.1 General
The hsb
2
(PLUS) seriesPathfinderRadar or PathfinderRadar/Chartplotter
comprises the 7" LCD displayunit, scanner unit and associated cables. The
RC520 PLUS Chartplottercannot be connected to the scanner unit.
Display Unit
The hsb
2
(PLUS) series display unit is waterproofto CFR46 and can be
installed either above or below deck.
The unit includes:
• 7" LCD PLUS display
• Trackpad
• Elevendedicated(labeled)controlkeys
• Four soft keys (unlabeled)whose functionalitychanges
• The Pathfinder Chartplottererand combined Pathfinder Radar/Chartplot-
ter include two slots for the C-MAP NT
®
chart cards
The displayand keys can be illuminatedfor night-time use.
Scanner
The hsb
2
series PathfinderRadar is suppliedwith a scanner unit which
illuminatestargetswith microwave energyand then collects the returns from
those targets. The scannerincludes a sensitive low-noise front end receiver,
and a variety of clutter attenuation controls to maintain target resolution.
Thescannerisadjustedandoperatedfromthedisplayunit,so thesedetailsare
providedin this Handbook. It canbe switched between transmit and stand-by
modes.Italsohasapower-savingtimedtransmitmodewhichpausesbetween
burstsof transmissions.

Systems
It is possible to connect up to ten hsb
2
(PLUS) seriesLCD or CRT displays
(dependent on cablelengths)and a scanner unit to provide an integrated
system. The system may include existing HSB display units that have been
suitablyupgraded- contactyour authorizedRaymarinedealerfor upgrade kit
details.
The
hsb
2
(High SpeedBus) connectionenables transfer of data between
compatible units. For example,radar data is transferredfrom the radar(the
masterdisplay)viathe
hsb
2
connectionandcanbedisplayedandcontrolledon
any other
hsb
2
series LCD or CRT display(the repeater display).
