4. Press the FLOAT 1 soft key to float VRM/EBL1, or the FLOAT 2 soft key to
float VRM/EBL2.
The soft keys are cleared. The cursor is positioned over the origin of the
VRM/EBL, over your vessel. The cursor has control of theVRM/EBL, as
indicated by the four-headedarrow, the text FLT in inverse video, and the
solidVRM/EBL line.
5. Use the trackpad to move the originof the VRM/EBL to the required posi-
tion(over the firsttarget).
6. PressENTER todrop theVRM/EBLinitsnewposition,orCLEAR to aban-
don the operation and returnthe VRM/EBL to its previousposition.
The radar shows the VRM/EBL as a short-dashedline (VRM/EBL1) or a
long-dashed line (VRM/EBL2), and the cursor returns to normal control.
7. Usethecontext-sensitivecursortotakecontroloftheVRMand/orEBL,to
obtainthe range and/orbearingto a second target,as previouslydescribed.
8. Read therange and bearing information from the VRM/EBL data box.
Moving and Unfloating a Floating EBL
Youcan move orunfloata VRM/EBL thathasbeenfloated.You can unfloata
VRM/EBL eitherby using the context-sensitive cursor or by using the FLOAT
softkey options.
➤ To move or unfloat a floating VRM/EBL usingthe cursor:
1. MovethecursorovertheoriginoftheVRM/EBLyouwishtocontrol,until
the letters FLT are displayed.
2. If you wish to unfloat the VRM/EBL, press CLEAR. The originof the
VRM/EBL is reset to your vessel’s position.
3. Alternatively,ifyouwishto move the floating VRM/EBL,press ENTER to
take control of it and move it using the trackpad.
Press ENTER again to drop the VRM/EBL in its new position,or CLEAR
to abandonthe operationand return the VRM/EBL to its previous posi-
tion.
➤ To unfloata floatingVRM/EBL using the keys:
1. Press VRM/EBL to display the VRM/EBL soft keys.
2. Press the FLOAT soft key.
3. PresstheUNF LOAT 1 softkeytounfloatVRM/EBL1,ortheUNFLOAT 2 soft
keytounfloatVRM/EBL2.
The soft keys are cleared, and the VRM/EBL is repositionedwith its ori-
gin at your vessel’s position.
