Lithium-Ion Battery Safety

If equipped with the optional keypad, press the
red OFF ( O ) key and place the Main ON/OFF
Switch in the OFF position before disconnecting
the battery from the truck at the battery
connector. Do not break live circuits at the
battery terminals. A spark often occurs at the
point where a live circuit is broken.
Make sure you install the correct size and
voltage battery. A smaller or lighter weight
battery could seriously affect truck stability.
An incorrect voltage battery could damage the
truck’s electrical system. See the truck’s
specification tag for more information.

Charge batteries at specified intervals. Do not
overcharge. Obey the charging procedures in
the Battery Instruction Manual and in the
Battery Charger Instruction Manual.
When storing a lithium-ion battery, follow these
guidelines:
• Place the lithium-ion battery in an
environment that resides within the
recommended Storage Temperature
Range. The following table identifies
maximum ambient temperature for
specific durations of time.
• Place the lithium-ion battery in a location
that will not be exposed to direct sunlight.
• Place the lithium-ion battery in a location
that will not be exposed to falling objects.
• Place the lithium-ion battery underneath
or within close proximity to a fire/smoke
detection system.
• Place the lithium-ion battery in a well
ventilated area.
• Place the lithium-ion battery in a
designated area that is not subjected to
potential flooding.
• Position the lithium-ion battery in an
orientation that minimizes the chances of
tipping over.
