Lithium-Ion Battery
Safety
Read, understand, and obey all instructions
and warnings on the battery and in the battery
charger manufacturer’s manuals. Follow these
precautions when working with or around lift
trucks with lithium-ion batteries.
Do not over-discharge the battery.
Over-discharging accelerates the aging process
and decreases the life of the battery. It may also
be cause to void the Warranty.
Do not store or operate lithium-ion batteries at
higher than recommended temperatures.
Higher temperatures accelerate the aging
process and decrease the life of the battery.
Thermal runaway is the build-up of heat and
pressure in the battery. Thermal runaway can
cause venting of flammable gases, and the
release of energy in the form of heat, smoke,
and/or fire.
In a Thermal Runaway condition, turn
the lift truck off, evacuate the area
immediately, and activate the fire alarm
system and call 911 or the local fire
department. Do NOT try to extinguish
flames or remedy the situation.
Do not attempt to replace fuses within the
lithium-ion battery unless you are trained and
authorized to do so. Contact your local
authorized Raymond Sales and Service Center
for assistance.
Use caution when using a high pressure washer
to clean the exterior of the lithium-ion battery.
Make sure battery compartment drain holes are
clear to prevent liquid buildup in the
lithium-ion battery.
The battery pack must be secured to the truck
prior to truck operation and servicing the
battery pack. The battery pack may tip over if
the battery pack is not secured.
Do not crush, drop, cut, puncture, or subject
the lithium-ion battery to excessive physical
impact that may cause damage.
Transport the battery in accordance with all
applicable laws.
Never smoke, use open flames, or use devices
that produce sparks near lithium-ion batteries.
Never lay tools or metal objects on top of the
battery or any part of the battery circuit. A
short circuit or explosion could result.
Do not use the ventilation ports as handles.
Do not remove the battery cable at the battery
terminal.
Do not attempt to lift the lithium-ion battery
without a hoist.
Never plug a battery charger into the truck’s
battery connector. Plug the battery charger only
into the battery connector from the battery.
Keep the charging area well-ventilated to avoid
hydrogen gas concentration.
Do not permit cleaning solution, dirt, or any
foreign matter to enter the cells.
