Battery Management Controller
The Battery Management Controller assembly
(BMC) includes the BMC enclosure and power
cables connecting to the Cell Module Assembly
and outside world.

BMC Removal
Perform the following steps to remove the BMC.
1. If equipped with the optional keypad,
press the red OFF ( O ) key. Place the Main
ON/OFF Switch in the OFF position.
Disconnect the battery connector from the
truck.
2. Remove the top cover. See “Top Cover
Removal” on page 7-49.
3. Remove the front cover. See “Front Cover
Removal” on page 7-50.
4. Unscrew the four BMC cover screws with a
screwdriver and remove the BMC cover.
5. Remove the BMC F1 Fuse [1].
If the BMC F1 fuse is not removed, the
handler might observe sparks when
unscrewing the bolts on the Cell Module
Assembly terminals. This is expected,
but not desired.
6. Unplug the BMC I/O and Power Connector
[2] on the outside wall of the BMC
enclosure.
7. Loosen the two Power Cord Cable Glands
[3] for the power cables going to the
outside world.
8. Unscrew the Truck side B+ and BMC Fuse
Terminal nut [4].
9. Unscrew the Contactor side BMC Fuse
Terminal nut [5].
10. Remove the BMC Fuse [6].
11. Unscrew the Truck side B- Terminal nut
[7].
12. Remove the BMC I/O Cable Bundle
Ground ring terminal from the Truck side
B- Terminal.
13. Remove power cable ring terminals from
all screw posts and pull through circular
cutouts through BMC enclosure wall.
14. Cover the Cell Module Assembly side B+
and B- power cable ring terminals with
non-conductive material.
15. Verify all cords/cables are disconnected
from the BMC.
