Subsection 02 (CHARGING SYSTEM)
NOTE: If it is continually necessary to add distilled
water to the battery, this indicates an over voltage
situation, requiring replacement of the rectifier/
regulator. If the battery will not stay charged,
the problem can be any of the charging system
components. If these all check good, try a new
rectifier/regulator.
STATOR
Continuity Test
Proceed as follows:
– Disconnect the magneto wiring harness con-
nector.

– Install the 3-pin magneto harness adapter
(P/N 529 036 016) between unplugged connec-
tors.

– Set multimeter to .
– Connect multimeter between YELLOW wires.

– Read resistance.

– If any result is out of specification, replace sta-
tor.
– Replug connectors properly.
Insulation Test
– Disconnect the magneto wiring harness con-
nector.

ness.
