A.6 Overview of measuring systems / encoders

The housing with the stator windings encloses the rotor. The two stator windings are excited
by a sinusoidal alternating voltage offset by 90°. The phase angle of the voltage induced in
the rotor then depends on the position of the rotor. An alternating voltage is induced through
the rotation of the rotor, which displays the angular position of the rotor through the phase
angle.
