Installing or Updating the System Software
17. Install the product feature keys as described in "Installing the Product Fea-
ture Keys" (page 8-10).
18. Restore the service data according to the instructions provided in "Backup/
Restore" (page 8-36).
1.2 Verifying the Operation of the Software
After the G50 or the G60 S software completes the installation of the system
software, perform the following steps to verify that the software is operational.
1. Confirm that no warning message is displayed on the monitor.
2. Press the F4 key to display the Preset screen.
3. Use the trackball to select the Service menu item.
4. Press SET.
5. Start up the service software as described in Figure 8-8.
6. At the password entry screen (Figure 8-9), verify that the correct software
version is displayed.
7. At the System Information screen shown in Figure 8-13, verify that the cor-
rect system Serial No. is displayed: The number displayed on the System
Information screen should be identical to the system Serial Number
recorded on the label attached to the rear of the system.
Note: Serial numbers appear in two formats. Serial numbers assigned to Euro-
pean systems carry the prefix of GAE; other serial numbers carry the prefix of
GAA. Both types of serial numbers contain a four digit number in addition to the
prefix.
