3.5 STERIS Chemical
Indicator
A STERIS chemical indicator validated for use with the Reliance
EPS is used as an independent monitor of the Reliance EPS Cycle.
This chemical indicator is a single use product designed to change
from the color of the “START” reference block on the label to the
“ENDPOINT” reference block upon exposure to an effective dose of
peracetic acid generated during the cycle.
The chemical indicator is not an indicator of load disinfection or
washing efficacy.
IMPORTANT: Refer to the bottle label and product insert for details
on storage conditions, expiration date, handling, use instructions and
Safety Precautions.
NOTE: From this point forward in this manual the "STERIS chemical
indicator validated for use with the Reliance EPS" will be referred to
as "chemical indicator".
3.6 Bar Code Reader
(Accessory)
See Figure 3-7.
The bar code reader is an optional accessory for the Reliance EPS
Processor. The bar code reader is used to input data associated with
the customizable STERIS bar codes: Operator ID, Patient ID,
Device ID, Procedure ID and Physician ID.
The bar code reader can also be used to scan alphanumeric bar
codes (with a maximum of 20 alphanumeric characters). If desired,
the operator can, for example, use the bar code reader to input data
associated with a bar code already present on devices or patient
identification cards.
