4.15.2 Unlocking Processor
Door During a Power Failure
On occasion it may be necessary to manually open the Reliance EPS
Processor chamber door, for example during a prolonged power
failure. Operator should remove flexible endoscopes and
accessories. Thoroughly rinse endoscopes, accessories and Flow
Units. Endoscopes and accessories will NOT be high level
disinfected. Remember to reprocess when power is restored.
Manually open Reliance EPS Processor chamber door as follows
(see Fi
gure 4-26):
1. Wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) such as
waterproof gloves, eye protection and apron.
2. Ensure area is well ventilated (depending on cycle phase at time
of shutdown, active ingredient may be generated).
3. Open Bag-in-a-Box compartment door.
4. Loosen two screws on control panel cover. Remove cover.
5. To left side of control panel, adjacent to chamber door, locate
door manual safety latch.
6. Pull safety latch to release door lock.
7. Open door.
IMPORTANT: There will be solution in the bottom of the
chamber, around the sump. It will be below the level of the
chamber door. Exercise caution to avoid contact with the
solution. Avoid inhaling fumes from inside the chamber.
8. Slowly and carefully pull out endoscope processing support.
9. Carefully remove flexible endoscopes, accessories, valves and
Flow Units.
10. Slowly and carefully push endoscope processing support back
into chamber.
IMPORTANT: Ensure manual safety latch ring is not trapped
before closing the chamber and the Bag-in-a-Box compartment
door.
11. Close and lock chamber door.
12. Clean any spilled solution while wearing appropriate Personal
Protective Equipment (PPE) such as waterproof gloves, eye
protection and apron. Ensure there is appropriate ventilation.
13. Thoroughly rinse all endoscopes, accessories and Flow Units
with tap water.
IMPORTANT: Remember endoscopes and accessories have not
been high level disinfected.
When power is restored:
14. Processor resumes abort cycle and rinse interior of chamber.
15. Reprocess endoscopes and accessories.

from chamber and contact with
any remaining solution.
