4.8.1 Optional Testing Prior
to Starting Cycle
NOTE: The following steps may be performed if the Reliance EPS
Processor is equipped with an optional Automated Leak Test
Assembly.
IMPORTANT: The following steps are optional and only used as a
method of testing the endoscope(s) status prior to the initiation of a
standard endoscope processing cycle.
IMPORTANT: These steps are not part of a standard endoscope
processing cycle. They should only be performed if the operator
wishes to initiate an optional testing of the endoscope(s) status
before performing an endoscope processing cycle.
To perform a standard endoscope processing cycle, proceed
with S
ECTION 4.8.2, STARTING CYCLE.
To perform an optional testing using the optional Automated
Leak Test Assembly, proceed as follows:
1. Ensure optional Automated Leak Test Assembly is present and
enabled.
2. Ensure leak test hose(s) are connected to endoscope leak test
port(s) (see S
ECTION 4.4.1, PREPARATION).
3. Ensure quick connect extremity of leak test hose(s) is (are)
connected to flexible connection(s) (see S
ECTION 4.4.1,
P
REPARATION).
4. Ensure pre-processing checklist was completed (see S
ECTION 4.7,
PRE-PROCESSING CHECKLIST).
IMPORTANT: Ensure no accessories stick out of endoscope
processing support.
5. Roll endoscope processing support into chamber. Push firmly so
it connects into manifold connectors at back of chamber.
6. Close processor door. Push processor door firmly to engage
locking mechanism.
7. Ensure door is closed tightly. Verify display shows current date
and time:

NOTE: If display shows D-SHORT REQUIRED XX HOURS
LEFT or D-SHORT REQUIRED XX MINUTES LEFT, refer to
S
ECTION 6.5, D-SHORT CYCLE. If display shows D-LONG
REQUIRED NOW, refer to S
ECTION 6.11, D-LONG CYCLE.

PROCESS HAZARD: Before
operating processor, always
firmly push endoscope
processing support into
manifold connectors at the
back of chamber. If support is
not positioned correctly, door
will not close, damage may
result and processor will be
unable to effectively process
load.
