4.7 Pre-Processing
Checklist
The following conditions are necessary to achieve successful
processing of the endoscopes and accessory types listed in the
Endoscope Quick Reference Guide.
– ENDOSCOPE PREPARATION –
Endoscope and accessories were:
� inspected and found to be in proper working order;
� prepared for immersion;
� successfully leak-tested;
� manually pre-cleaned within 30 minutes prior to starting
processing cycle.
– PRIOR TO PROCESSING –
� Debris screen is clear of debris (see S
ECTION 4.3, LOADING
ENDOSCOPE PROCESSING SUPPORT);
� Spray arms rotate freely (see S
ECTION 4.3, LOADING ENDOSCOPE
PROCESSING SUPPORT);
� Accessories are correctly positioned in endoscope processing
support (see S
ECTION 4.3, LOADING ENDOSCOPE PROCESSING
SUPPORT);
� Insertion tube sleeve (labeled with a RED dot, labeled with a
BLUE dot or NOT labeled) is used for endoscopes which can
be inserted into one of three template slots located in front of
endoscope processing support. If required, place proper
insertion tube sleeve into control handle boot "A" and/or "B" (see
S
ECTION 4.3, LOADING ENDOSCOPE PROCESSING SUPPORT);
� Endoscope #1 is placed in control handle boot "A" (see
S
ECTION 4.3, LOADING ENDOSCOPE PROCESSING SUPPORT);
� If endoscope #1 does not have a light guide cable, a
control handle boot plug is placed in the universal cord port;
� Endoscope #2 is placed in control handle boot "B" (see
S
ECTION 4.3, LOADING ENDOSCOPE PROCESSING SUPPORT);
� If endoscope #2 does not have a light guide cable, a
control handle boot plug is placed in the universal cord port;
� If only one endoscope is processed, the endoscope is placed
in control handle boot "A" and a control handle boot plug is
placed in the fluid delivery port of control handle boot "B";
� If only accessories, such as dilators and bougies, are being
processed (without an endoscope), test cords are placed in
both control handle boots (follow instructions in Endoscope
Quick Reference Guide for Flow Unit 5);
� If required, Flow Units a
re attached (refer to Endoscope Quick
Reference Guide);
