Checks and Adjustments
Brake Pedal Adjustment
See Figure 9-2.
1. Park the mower safely. (See “Park Mower Safely” on
page 1-6.)
NOTES
• Adjust brakes after replacing or servicing brake
assembly, or if brake pedal travel becomes
excessive.
• When installing new brake pads, burnish pads by
driving machine at mowing speed while applying a
slight pressure on brake pedal for about 5 seconds.
Release and repeat five times before making final
adjustment.

2. Fully loosen adjusting nut (1).
3. Disconnect brake return spring at caliper.
4. By hand, pull brake cable (4) away from brake pedal
until the brake pads just contact the brake disk. Turn
adjusting nut (3) clockwise until it contacts the
mounting plate (2).
5. Tighten adjusting nut (1) to 20 lb-ft (27 N·m).
6. Connect brake return spring.
7. Repeat steps 2 through 6 for the second brake cable.
8. Start machine and check operation of brakes.
9. Place machine in 2WD mode, engage park brake,
and stroke the hydro. Ensure that park brake
prevents any movement.
10. Repeat steps 2 through 9 for each cable as required.
IMPORTANT
Check adjustment of park brake switch (5) whenever
interlock system is not operating correctly. (See “Park
Brake Switch” on page 4-91.)

2. Support the canopy (1) using a suitable lifting device.

3. Loosen the nuts on the two front screws (2).
4. Remove the rear nuts (3), screws (4), and washers
(5).
5. Remove canopy (1).
