Choose an encryption method in keeping with both your users and
what you need to secure. For example, unless your users have Acrobat
or Adobe Reader 7–9, they can’t use the 128-bit AES encryption option
that lets you secure only attachments. If you choose the 256-bit AES
encryption, your users need Acrobat or Adobe Reader 9 to view the
contents.

From the Show menu, displayed in Figure 123, lter the list by displaying
only organizational or user policies.
•
Click a policy from the list in the top pane of the dialog to view its
details in the bottom pane of the dialog. Click Apply to Document, and
follow the sequence of dialogs and prompts to secure the document.
Who Are You Today?
When you are choosing a
digital ID for an encryption
policy, select one of these
three options to specify the
persistence of the Digital ID:
•
“Ask me which Digital
ID to use next time” is
the default. When you
choose this option, each
time you click a signature
field, the Apply Digital
Signature dialog opens.
•
“Use this Digital ID until
I close the application” is
a useful option if you are
in a workflow where you
are reviewing, comment-
ing, modifying, and sign-
ing documents.
•
Choose “Always use this
Digital ID” if you work
with one signature all the
time.
