2.4 PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT (PPE)
Personal protective equipment (PPE) means any equipment intended to be worn by the
operator in order to protect them from risks to their safety or health at work, as well as any
device or accessory intended for this purpose. The use of PPE does not eliminate the risk of
injury, but reduces the severity of the injury in case of an accident.
The following is a list of personal protective equipment to be used when operating the
machine:
• Wear chain saw cut-resistant safety shoes fitted with non-slip soles and steel tips.
• Wear protective goggles or face screens.
• Protect yourself against noise; for example, by using earmuffs or ear plugs.
WARNING
The use of hearing protection requires greater attention and caution, because
such equipment may restrict your ability to hear sounds indicating danger
(shouts, alarms, etc.). Suitable protective equipment reduces the risk of hearing
loss.
• Wear gloves that permit the maximum absorption of vibrations.
• Wear approved safety protective clothing. Protective jackets and dungarees are ideal.
WARNING
Clothing must be suitable for the purpose and not get in the way. Wear protective
close-fitting clothing. Do not wear clothes, scarves, ties or jewelery that could
become entangled in the machine, undergrowth, or other. Tie up long hair and
protect it.
NOTE
Get advice from your trusted dealer for choosing adequate clothing.
