10.2.4 Charge the battery according to the following indications
Constant voltage range
14.40 ÷ 14.70 V
Max initial current
2.0 ÷ 4.0 A
Charge time 12 ÷ 24 h
Wait at least 4 hours after charging before using the battery. The battery must be recharged as
soon as possible after it becomes fully discharged.
10.2.5 Battery charger in critical condition
In the event that the batteries are subject to deep-discharge or have been left discharged for
extended periods (>15 days), we recommend charging the battery at a constant current of 0.5 ÷
1.0 A for at least 10 ÷ 12 h, then proceed with normal charging as specified above.
10.3 INSTALLING THE BATTERY
• Open the cowling (A, Fig. 25) and install the battery in its housing (Fig. 27). Connect the
breather pipe (B, Fig. 27) to the battery;
• Remove the protective cap from the electrodes;
WARNING
When the machine will not be in use for any length of time, we recommend
disconnecting the leads from the positive terminal (+) and the negative terminal
(-) and cover the electrodes with the protective cap (C, Fig. 27).
• Connect the cable with the red cap to the positive (+) pole, and the cable with the black cap
to the negative (-) pole, using the appropriate bolts and nuts (D, Fig. 28). Protect the
connections with Vaseline and cover with the respective caps.
WARNING
Short-circuit hazard: Never directly connect the positive and negative terminals
of the battery with a cable or other metal object. Do not place tools on top of the
battery. Use tools (a screwdriver or pliers) with insulated handles only.
