25. Once the thyroid count is complete, position the probe over the patient's thigh and select
<Count Patient Bkg>. The system instructs the user to position the probe to count the
patient’s background. The distance bar and a red LED light can be flipped out from the rim
into the center of the collimator face to help align the thyroid position. Remember to flip
the LED back to the retracted position and move the distance bar to the bottom of the
collimator out of the field before counting. Select <Accept> to continue.
26. The system begins counting the patient's background. When counting is complete, the
message "Counting Complete" is displayed at the bottom of the screen. Select <Next>.
27. Place the standard into the neck phantom and count the standard dose using the same
geometry as used for the dose and patient’s thyroid. A distance bar and a red LED light
can be flipped out from the rim into the center of the collimator face to help align the
thyroid position. Remember to flip the LED back to the retracted position and move the
distance bar to the bottom of the collimator out of the field before counting.
28. Select <Recount Standard>. The Counting Standard screen is now displayed. Select
<Accept> to begin the recount of the standard.
29. When the standard has been recounted, a “Counting Complete” message is displayed at the
bottom of the screen. Select <Next> to return to the Thyroid Uptake screen.
NOTE: If you wish to perform a spectrum analysis, select the <Analysis> icon before
selecting <Next>.
30. Select <Recount Lab Background>. The system prompts to position the probe to recount
the lab background. You should count with the neck phantom in front of the collimator
without the source in it.
31. Remove the capsule from the neck phantom and position the probe to measure lab
background. The distance bar and a red LED light can be flipped out from the rim into the
center of the collimator face to help align the thyroid position. Remember to flip the LED
back to the retracted position and move the distance bar to the bottom of the collimator
out of the field before counting. When the probe has been positioned, select <Accept>.
The system begins counting lab background and will count for the selected time.
32. When lab background counting is finished, a “Counting Complete” message is displayed at
the bottom of the screen. Select <Next> to return to the Thyroid Uptake screen.
NOTE: If you wish to perform a spectrum analysis, select the <Analysis> icon before
selecting <Next>.
