4.3 Switching on the Metal Detector
4.3.1 Checking the safety features

Power supply unit
There are dangerous voltages inside the
power supply unit. Close the cover and
keep the key safe so that it is only
available for use by trained personnel (EN
60204 Standard). This will also prevent
accidental switching when the cover is
closed. On the switch can be
padlocked in the OFF position during
maintenance.

Covers and shelters
Check that all fixed covers and
protections are correctly fitted and
fastened in place.

Reject bin
Check that the reject bin is in position and
correctly fastened.

Floor fixing
If requested, check that the structure is
firmly anchored to the floor. In case of
castors, check that they are locked.

Obstructions on belt
Before you start the conveyor belt, check
that there are no extraneous objects on
the belt.

Emergency buttons
Check that all the emergency buttons and
safety switches installed in the system,
work correctly

Product exit
Check it is correctly placed next to the
following conveyor or that there is an
unloading belt with fixed guard.

LOTO devices
In case of maintenance operations in
progress, check that the main switch knob
and that of the compressed air shut-off
valve are in the position that cuts the
power sources and locked with a padlock.
