8.3.5 Maintenance and auxiliary adjustment
Vehicle maintenance
Welding, heating, or hammering to repair wheels is not allowed, and all damaged wheels
must be replaced.
Wheel stud
If the stud is found to be broken, it must be replaced.
Tire and wheel assembly
The tires and wheels are assembled at the assembly plant.
1. This means that the radial hard parts of the
tire, or "high point," align with the minimum
radius, or "low point" of the wheel.
2. This is done for smooth tire operation and
comfortable ride.
3. The "high point" of a tire is initially indicated
by paint spot on the outer side of the tire. This
paint spot will be washed off.
4. The "low point" of a wheel is initially
indicated by paint spot on the rim of the wheel.
Correctly assemble, as shown in the above
figure, the paint spots on the wheel rim align
with the paint spots on the outer side of the tire.
5. Whenever a tire is removed from a wheel,
the tire and wheel need to be re matched,
ensuring that the tire and wheel match. If the
location of paint spots cannot be found on the
tire, before disassembly, draw a line on the tire
and wheel to ensure that the tire and wheel are
reassembled in the same location.
