1. Introducon
1.1 Scope and denions
This manual provides the installaon, operaon and maintenance instrucons for the
GXS dry pumping system. The pump must be used as specied in this manual. Read this
manual before the installaon and operaon of the pump.
The units used throughout this manual conform to the SI internaonal system of units of
measurement.
The safety Data Sheets for the chemicals supplied by us can be obtained by contacng
us, or at www.edwardsvacuum.com.
1.2 Applicaons
The GXS dry pumping systems are suitable for a wide range of industrial applicaons. We
have a dedicated team of applicaons engineers who can help to determine the best dry
pumping system for an applicaon.
Warranes may be invalidated if the dry pumping system is used on an unsuitable
applicaon. If in doubt, contact us.
1.3 Descripon
The dry pumping systems range has been developed to meet the demanding
requirements for process pumping soluons in industrial applicaons. The range sets
new standards for harsh process capability, reliability and reduced cost of ownership in
low footprint packages.
There are dierent ways to control the dry pumping system and monitor status. The user
can manually press the controls on the front panel and monitor the LEDs on the front
and rear of the dry pumping system. The Pump Display Terminal (PDT) gives further
funconality for set up and status monitoring. Alternavely the dry pumping system can
be controlled using a distributed control system by connecng to the parallel interface
by the MCM MicroTIM. There are also several serial interface opons, including Ethernet
connecon.
A high ow purge and solvent ush kit is available as a factoryt opon to clean the
pump mechanism on an applicaons where large quanes of dust and scky deposits
are encountered. The cleaning process is run while the pump is in Green mode/Standby
mode and is carried out without the need to remove the pump enclosure. A PDT is
required to iniate the cleaning process, it controls a set sequence called DP Clean.
1.4 Priority of control
The dry pumping system can be controlled by a number of modules:
Front control panel (refer to Figure: Front panel controls)
Pump Display Terminal (PDT)
Customer's system through the MCM MicroTIM or
One of the serial interfaces.
