1. Introducon
1.1 Scope and denions
This manual provides the installaon, operaon and maintenance instrucons for the
GXS dry pumping system. The pump must be used as specied in this manual. Read this
manual before the installaon and operaon of the pump.
The units used throughout this manual conform to the SI internaonal system of units of
measurement.
The safety Data Sheets for the chemicals supplied by us can be obtained by contacng
us, or at www.edwardsvacuum.com.
1.2 Applicaons
The GXS dry pumping systems are suitable for a wide range of industrial applicaons. We
have a dedicated team of applicaons engineers who can help to determine the best dry
pumping system for an applicaon.
Warranes may be invalidated if the dry pumping system is used on an unsuitable
applicaon. If in doubt, contact us.
1.3 Descripon
The dry pumping systems range has been developed to meet the demanding
requirements for process pumping soluons in industrial applicaons. The range sets
new standards for harsh process capability, reliability and reduced cost of ownership in
low footprint packages.
There are dierent ways to control the dry pumping system and monitor status. The user
can manually press the controls on the front panel and monitor the LEDs on the front
and rear of the dry pumping system. The Pump Display Terminal (PDT) gives further
funconality for set up and status monitoring. Alternavely the dry pumping system can
be controlled using a distributed control system by connecng to the parallel interface
by the MCM MicroTIM. There are also several serial interface opons, including Ethernet
connecon.
A high ow purge and solvent ush kit is available as a factory‑t opon to clean the
pump mechanism on an applicaons where large quanes of dust and scky deposits
are encountered. The cleaning process is run while the pump is in Green mode/Standby
mode and is carried out without the need to remove the pump enclosure. A PDT is
required to iniate the cleaning process, it controls a set sequence called DP Clean.
1.4 Priority of control
The dry pumping system can be controlled by a number of modules:
▪
Front control panel (refer to Figure: Front panel controls)
▪
Pump Display Terminal (PDT)
▪
Customer's system through the MCM MicroTIM or
▪
One of the serial interfaces.
