Out of Range
The tester did not find an
end event.
This can occur for Manual OTDR
tests when
the range you selected is too short. Select a
higher range on the TEST SETUP screen.
For Auto OTDR tests, Out of Range can occur
when the cabling is much longer than the
range of the module. Rarely, very bad
connections along the cabling can cause the
OTDR to select a range that is too short.
Compare the expected cabling length to the
maximum range of the module. If the length is
within range, try the Manual OTDR test with
the maximum range setting.
For DataCenter OTDR tests, Out of Range can
occur if the link is longer than the range of the
test.
Weak Signal
The signal is attenuated
below the background
noise level before the
tester found the end of
the fiber.
No fiber is connected to the OTDR port, the
fiber is too short, there is a bad connector in
the link, the fiber is broken or bent, or the
fiber is very long. Weak Signal can also occur if
the fiber has very high loss or you did a
Manual OTDR and the pulse width was too
narrow.
No Signal
The tester did not receive
any reflected light from
the fiber or from the OTDR
port connector.
There is a problem with the module. If this
event continues to occur, contact Fluke
Networks for assistance.
