Naming conventions for renaming SAS hosts
The following naming conventions apply when renaming SAS hosts:
The SAS hosts, which were selected on the [Now Connected] screen, are named, and then
the SAS hosts, which were specified on the [Manual Input] screen, are named next.
The name of the host, which was already named, will also be changed.
When one SAS host has been selected, the SAS host name is changed to the entered name.
When multiple SAS hosts have been selected, the SAS host names are changed in the order
of the present SAS host names.
When multiple SAS hosts have been selected, the SAS host names are changed to the
entered name with "_" and consecutive suffix numbers added respectively.
[Example]
When specifying "Host_ABC" (8 characters) as the SAS host name and specifying "10" for
"Start of Suffix"
Names such as "Host_ABC_10", "Host_ABC_11", and "Host_ABC_12" are used for
SAS hosts.
When a new SAS host name including "_" and the suffix number has more than 16
characters, the excess number of characters starting with the last character is deleted from
the entered SAS host name, and "~" and a suffix number are added, so that the name with
the suffix number has 16 characters.
[Example]
When specifying "Host_ABCDEFGHIJK" (16 characters) as the SAS host name and
specifying "10" for "Start of Suffix"
Names such as "Host_ABCDEFGH~10", "Host_ABCDEFGH~11", and
"Host_ABCDEFGH~12" are used for iSCSI hosts.
When a SAS host name including the suffix number already exists, the suffix number is
increased by one (+1). The suffix number is increased by one (+1) until no SAS host names
overlap.
