3.6 Rotational Chair Testing
Rotational chair testing is available in licensed VisualEyes 515 and VisualEyes 525 systems that utilize a
reclining chair. The Nydiag 200 and System 2000 Reclining chairs utilize FireWire cameras, and the Orion
Reclining chair utilize USB cameras.
3.6.1 Safety checks prior to beginning rotary chair tests
Prior to beginning the first rotary chair test in the reclining rotary chair, a safety checklist will be presented to
ensure the safety of the patient before the chair is set into motion. Please use the checklist as a guide to
ensure patient safety during the test. Check each box after performing the task. The chair will not be able to
move until all boxes are checked and the OK button is pressed (see Figures below).

3.6.2 Sinusoidal harmonic acceleration (SHA) test
During the Sinusoidal Harmonic Acceleration (SHA) test the patient is positioned in the rotary chair and is
rotated in a sinusoidal pattern alternating from left to right. Analysis of the vestibular response is performed
by recording the eye movements with VisualEyes™ VNG goggles in a fixation-denied condition. The patient
is rotated in alternating directions at multiple individual frequencies.
