2.7 VFD Derating Data
2.7.1 Temperature Derating
To ensure the maximum performance life, the VFD output current must be derated when it is installed in areas with
high ambient temperature or if VFDs are mounted side-by-side in a cabinet. In order to ensure reliable VFD
overload protection, set parameters L08-12 and L08-35 according to the installation conditions.
2.7.1.1 IP00/Open-Chassis Enclosure
VFD operation between -10°C to +60°C (14°F to 140°F) allows CMAA Class F continuous current without derating.
2.7.1.2 Side-by-Side Mounting
VFD operation between -10°C and 30°C (14°F to 86°F) allows CMAA Class F continuous current without derating.
Operation between 30°C and 50°C (86°F to 122°F) requires output current derating.
2.7.2 Altitude Derating
The VFD output current must be derated when it is installed in areas at altitudes above 1000 meters and at a
maximum of 3000 meters. Derate 1% for every 100 m higher than 1000 m.
