6. General Procedures - Create the MFC Test Program Connection

Before you start:
• Set the MFC main input switch to the ON (I) position.
Step Action Information
1 Push in the emergency stop switch
on the MFC.
This action disconnects mains power
to the electrical cabinet.
2 Connect the ends of the diagnostic
lead to the
computer and to the
engineer socket on the RH side of
the electrical cabinet.
(See Figure 6.5).
3 Release the emergency stop
swit
ch.
4 Open the MFC Test program on
the computer
.
The ‘Not Connected’ window is
shown in the information area.
5 Click ‘Edit’ on the MFC Test
Program Menu Bar
, and then click
‘Communication Parameters’.
The 'Select Com Port' dialogue box is
shown in the information area (see
Figure 6.6).
6 Set the port on the computer that
the diagnostic
lead is connected to.
Click the 'OK' button.
If the correct com port is not shown in
the 'com port' field drop-down list, put
the cursor inside the 'com port' field
and type the name of the com port
7 Click the ‘Connect’ control button
on the tool
bar.
