9-24 Upgrading Your Server
Setting after installation
Depending on the type of the installed board, some settings of the server must be modified by using the proper utility
(such as the BIOS Setup Utility or the setup utility installed in the board) after the installation.
Provide the settings correctly according to the information described in the manual provided with the board.
The server scans the PCI bus numbers in the ascending order after the power-on. If the BIOS utility is stored in the
optional ROM mounted on the board, the PCI bus start messages (banners) appear in the ascending order of the PCI bus
numbers.
Removal
Remove the board from the PCI board slot in the following procedure.
1. See the section "Preparing for Installation and Removal" described earlier to prepare.
2. Remove the left side cover.
3. Remove the board.
4. Assemble the server.
5. Turn on the power of the server. Make sure that no error message appears in the POST.
If an error message appears, write down the message and contact your service representative for the
maintenance.
6. Start the BIOS Setup Utility to set the "Reset Configuration Data" in the "Advanced" menu to "Yes."
This is required to update the hardware configuration information. See Chapter 4 for details.
