3-2 Setting Up Your Server
SETUP FLOW
Follow the flowchart below to set up the server.
Unpacking the system
Unpack the server and accessories from the shipping carton box.
Installing optional devices
If you have purchased any optional device for the server, see Chapter 9 to install it.
Selecting the server site
Select a suitable site for the server.
Connecting peripheral devices
Connect peripheral devices to the server.
Connecting the power cord
Connect the power cord to the server.
Turning on the server
Power on the server to start software setups. Setups depend on the optional internal
devices installed and the peripheral devices connected.
Installing the operating system
Install an operating system to the server. See Chapter 5.
Installing the utilities
Install the utilities in the provided EXPRESSBUILDER CD-ROM.
See Chapter 6.
Making backup copies of system information
After all the system setup procedures are completed, make backup copies of system
information.
System information is required for recovering the server from trouble or after
replacing the system board.
