If you use an S300 Mini Remote, you can define several monitoring cases with different
pr
otective fields. These monitoring cases can be statically or dynamically switched via
EFI.
Protective field length S
L
Calculate the protective field length S
L
using the following formula:
•
S
L
= S
A
+ Z
G
+ Z
R
+ Z
F
+ Z
B
where
•
S
A
= Stopping distance
•
Z
G
= General supplement = 100 mm
•
Z
R
= Supplement for a possible reflection-related measurement error of the safety
laser scanner
•
Z
F
= Supplement for a possible lack of ground clearance of the vehicle
•
Z
B
= Supplement for the decreasing braking force of the vehicle as specified in the
relevant vehicle documentation
Stopping distance S
A
T
he stopping distance comprises the vehicle’s braking distance and the distance cov‐
ered during the safety laser scanner’s response time and the vehicle control’s response
time.
Figure 36: Stopping distance
NOTE
P
lease note that a vehicle’s braking distance does not increase linearly with increasing
speed, but rather in a squared relationship. This is particularly important if you switch
between protective fields of different sizes depending on the speed determined by
incremental encoders.
