Refertothedisplayunit’sinstructionmanualforthecompass
safedistance.Ifseveralcolourdisplaysaremountedinthe
wheelhouseforusewithvarioussonars,echosoundersandradar
systems,wesuggestthatyouinstalladisplayselectordevice.A
displayselectorwillallowyoutosetupthesonar(oranyother
system)tobeviewedonanydisplay,andthismaybechosen
dependingonthecurrentoperationstakingplace.Ifacommercial
displayisused,observetheminimumtechnicalrequirements.
LocationoftheOperatingPanel
TheOperatingPanelprovidedwiththeSimradSX90contains
allthecontrollersforthesonaroperation.Thebuilt-intrackball
allowsyoutooperatethemenusystemonthesonar,but
additional“short-cut”buttonshavealsobeenprovidedtoaccess
themostcommonfunctionsdirectly.Testshaveshownthatthis
allowsyoutooperatethesonarfaster,anditreducesfatigue.
WerecommendthattheOperatingPanelismountedinanearly
horizontalposition,andwithineasyviewingrangeofthedisplay
unit.Thecompasssafedistancestobeallowedforwhenplanning
theunit’slocationare:
•StandardCompass:0.05m.
•SteeringCompass:0.05m.
LocationoftheProcessorUnit
TheProcessorUnitshouldbeinstalledinsideaconsole,ina
cabinetoronadesk.Makesurethatadequateventilationis
availabletoavoidoverheating.Thecompasssafedistancestobe
allowedforwhenplanningtheunit’slocationare:
•StandardCompass:0.15m.
•SteeringCompass:0.1m.
