NOTE: When using bar code reader, note the following:
1) Customizable STERIS bar code lists are included in
instructions for "Bar Code Reader Installation" (P920011-
654).
2) Alphanumeric bar codes present on devices or identification
cards (with a maximum of 20 alphanumeric characters) can
also be used with bar code reader.
3) To bypass each scanning sequence, press START touch pad
instead of scanning bar code. Printout indicates scan was
bypassed.
4) During scanning sequence, press STOP touch pad at any
time to cancel and return to Ready mode.
6. Aim bar code reader at appropriate code on bar code list and press
trigger. Adjust reader position so scanning line is centered on code.
When bar code reader reads code correctly, a beep sounds and
display shows:
Programmed data is printed (see Figures 4-24 and 4-25).
NOTE: If invalid bar code is scanned, display shows: "OPERATOR
ID IS INVALID" alternating with "(OPERATOR ID), STOP = RETRY".
7. Press START touch pad to confirm Operator ID, or STOP touch
pad to cancel and scan another bar code.
8. Repeat for each of the following bar code IDs:
• Scan Boot A Patient ID; Scan Boot B Patient ID (DOUBLE
endoscope processing cycle only)
• Scan Boot A Device ID; Scan Boot B Device ID (DOUBLE
endoscope processing cycle only)
• Scan Boot A Procedure ID; Scan Boot B Procedure ID
(DOUBLE endoscope processing cycle only)
• Scan Boot A Physician ID; Scan Boot B Physician ID
(DOUBLE endoscope processing cycle only)
NOTE: If incorrect bar code is scanned, display shows for example:
"PHYSICIAN ID IS INVALID" alternating with "(PHYSICIAN ID),
STOP = RETRY".
9. Press START touch pad to start selected cycle. Once cycle is
started, display shows, for example:
(OPERATOR ID)
START = CONFIRM
OPERATING
MMM MIN
WARNING – EYE INJURY
HAZARD: Laser radiation. Do
not stare at bar code reader
beam.
