S CLASS™ 2 cutter User’s Manual
Detailed Operation 4-7
4.3.1.5 Knife offset
The Knife offset submenu is explained in section 2.2.3.
4.3.1.6 Pouncing gap
The Pouncing gap submenu is used to change the pouncing gap (distance between the holes
that are punched in the material by the pouncing tool).
Press the Pouncing gap button, then change the pouncing gap to the desired distance. Press
to confirm or to cancel.
4.3.1.7 FlexCut
FlexCut should be controlled by the software. When the FlexCut mode is on, the cutter will
alternately cut a certain length with full pressure and a certain length with reduced pressure.
The advantage of the FlexCut feature is that it cuts completely through the material. Moreover,
it also allows the material to stay together by means of the small media bridges.
Several modes exist, depending on the software that is used.
There are 5 typical FlexCut parameters:
1. Full pressure: This parameter determines full pressure, used during FlexCut mode.
2. Full pressure cut length: This parameter determines the length that is cut with full
pressure; usually the length that will be cut all the way through.
3. Flex pressure cut length: This parameter determines the length that will be cut with
reduced pressure or without pressure. This is usually a much smaller value than the full
pressure cut length – this is the length of the media bridges.
4. FlexCut pressure: This parameter determines the pressure of the Flex pressure cut
length. This is usually a reduced pressure, so that the knife only scratches the media or
only cuts it halfway through.
5. FlexCut Velocity: FlexCut uses higher knife pressures. Higher knife pressures need lower
cutting speed. With this parameter the velocity of FlexCut can be set independently from
the normal cutting velocity. For more info see section 2.5.1.
NOTE: The pouncing tool is not mounted in the machine at the same place than the
other tools. The pouncing tool should be mounted this way the center of the pin is
located above the black soft pouncing strip.
