CYLINDER HEAD
• Install the dowel pins into the cylinder and then install the cyl-
inder head gasket

1 onto the cylinder.
• Place the cylinder head

2 on the cylinder.
• Install the gasket washers to the cylinder head bolts as
shown.
• Apply engine oil to the washers and thread portion of the bolts
before installing the cylinder head bolts.
• With the head snugly seated on the cylinder, secure it by tight-
ening the bolts in diagonal stages.
• Tighten the cylinder head bolts to the specified torque.
$ Cylinder head bolt: Initial 25 N·m (2.5 kgf-m, 18.0 lb-ft)
Final 50 N·m (5.0 kgf-m, 36.0 lb-ft)
• After tightening the cylinder head bolts to specification, tighten
the cylinder head base nuts

3 and cylinder base bolt

4 to the
specified torque.
$ Cylinder head base nut: 10 N·m (1.0 kgf-m, 7.0 lb-ft)
Cylinder base bolt: 12 N·m (1.2 kgf-m, 8.5 lb-ft)
• Install the engine mounting upper brackets. (!5-6)
• Install the exhaust pipe. (!5-8)
• Install the spark plug. (!2-7)
• Install the carburetor. (!12-16)
CAUTION
Use a new gasket to prevent gas leakage.
CAUTION
Do not drop the cam chain into the crankcase.
CAUTION
The gasket washers should be replaced with new ones
to prevent oil leakage.
