37) Installation of Lower Unit
1. Tilt up the outboard motor and lock it with the tilt stopper.
2. Set the shift rod 1 to the up position (forward position).

•
Apply a thin coat of TEFLON grease to the
spline of the drive shaft before installation.
•
Apply a thin coat of OBM grease to the water
pipe seal rubber.
•
Tilting the outboard motor up makes it easier to
install the lower unit.
•
When installing the lower unit, insert the water
pipe into the seal rubber properly.
3. Insert the lower unit assy into the drive shaft housing.
Align the position of the water pipe and the water pipe seal

4. Tighten the lower unit assy installation bolts to the
specified torque.
Lower Unit Bolt:
19 N · m (14 lb · ft) [1.9 kg · m]
