6.5.3 Editing G-code
The G-code File Preview window displays the contents of the selected .nc le (see Figure 6.14). You
can edit G-code in two ways on your PathPilot controller:
• Using a text editor
• Using the Conversaonal tab to edit a le created in PathPilot's conversaonal programming
NOTE: For more informaon on using conversaonal programming in PathPilot, refer to Conversaonal
Tab secon later in this chapter.
6.5.3.1 Editing G-code with a Text Editor
1. Highlight the le and click Edit G-code (see Figure 6.14).
2. A text editor opens the le in a new window for eding the contents of the le. Make the
appropriate changes to the le and click Save.
3. Click the X in the upper right-hand corner of the screen to close the text editor.
4. Click OK when asked to re-load the le.
6.5.3.2 Editing G-code with Conversational Programming
To edit the G-code using conversaonal programming, highlight the le and click Conv. Edit (see
Figure 6.14). A job assignment editor opens the le in a new window for eding the contents of the
le. The le window shows job assignments of a program; the right window previews the program
(see Figure 6.15).
Use Move Up, Move Down, Duplicate, or Remove to edit the order in which the steps of the program
occur.
Click Insert Step to create a new job assignment using conversaonal programming. PathPilot opens
the Conversaonal tab; aer creang the job assignment, click Insert. If necessary, edit the order of
the newly created job assignment in the program.
Click Insert File to load an already created G-code le into the program – allowable G-code les can
be hand-wrien, generated from a CAM soware, or generated from PathPilot's conversaonal
programming. Navigate to the desired .nc le and highlight; click Open. If necessary, edit the order
of the newly created job assignment in the program.
Highlight a job assignment and click Conv. Edit to edit a job assignment created in conversaonal
programming. PathPilot opens the relevant tab of the Conversaonal tab; make the appropriate
changes to the job and click Finish Eding to update the G-code program le.
Click Revert to restore any edited job assignment to its original parameters. Revert is only available
for individual job assignments created in conversaonal programming.
Click Close and, when prompted, Close Without Saving to restore the enre G-code program le to
its original parameters. PathPilot exits the conversaonal edit screen without overriding the original
G-code program le.
