6.8.8 DXF Tab
You can import a .dxf le (Drawing Exchange Format) into PathPilot to generate G-code, which can
then cut the shape (or shapes) described in the .dxf le. For example, you could use this feature to
engrave logos or artwork.
1. Click the File DRO.
The File Selector dialog box opens.
2. Select the .dxf le, and then click Open.
The shapes from the selected le are loaded into the Preview window in the DXF tab.
NOTE: The .dxf le must already be transferred to the PathPilot controller.
3. Set the osets: In the X Oset DRO and the Y Oset DRO, type the oset value added in the
XY direcon from the boom le corner of the .dxf drawing.
4. In the Scale DRO, type the scale factor for the drawing. The value typed in the Scale DRO is
used as a mulplier for the .dxf dimensions.
NOTE: The scale factor is applied to the enre drawing. For example, if you type 1.0 in the Scale DRO, the
.dxf is scaled at 100 percent. If you type 2.0 in the Scale DRO, the .dxf is scaled at 200 percent.
5. In the Rotate DRO, type the rotaon angle in degrees.
The rotaon angle is applied around the Z-axis of the drawings origin.
6. Select the cuer compensaon to be applied to the tool path: Click one of the following radio
buons:
On: the tool moves along the path.
Outside / Right: osets the tool path right of the drawing path, seen from the direcon
where the tool enters the path.
Inside / Le: is the opposite of Outside / Right.
6.8.8.1 Working with Layers and Shapes
The .dxf le contains shapes grouped into layers.
In the Shape Selecon tree view window, you can enable or disable individual layers and complete
layers. You can select shapes either from the tree view window or in the Preview window.
