Blowtorch To dry the slot.
Pointing trowels and wire

To even the fill in the slot.
Tape and a knife Masking tape, insulation tape, or electrical tape to protect the sensor during
installation.
Suitable plastic ducting To protect the cable from the road or runway edge to the enclosure. Size:
approximately 50 mm (1.96 in) in outer diameter. You can use one duct for each
cable, if needed.
Sanding paper To clean the sensor.
Chalk line or crayon To mark the cut in the road.
Various hand tools For various tasks.

Slot filling material, such as
flexible epoxy or polyester
grout
The epoxy/grout should be hard, but still make a good bond between the
asphalt or concrete and the sensor and it should have a curing time of less
than one hour. The result should be a hard surface, which forms a strong bond
between the asphalt or concrete and the sensor.
You may also need additional materials for overbanding
and increasing traction. Consult local guidelines and the
documentation provided by the filling material
manufacturer.
Containers and tools To measure and mix the epoxy/grout.
Preformed foam packing strip (Optional) To fill the base of the slot. Can also be left out or replaced with
sand.
Hard-setting putty To set the sensor into the slot.
Steel stick To push the sensor cable along the slot.
