3.5 Preparing Site
3.5.1 Laying Foundations
Incorrectly installed foundation presents a safety hazard. To ensure safety,
follow these instructions, as well as local and state legislation and regulations during
installation.

Designing Concrete Foundation for Rain Gauges
The concrete foundation must be prepared before mounting the equipment. For more
detailed instructions, see the rain gauge documentation. For foundation and measurement
instructions, see the following drawings.
Note the following:
• Decide dimension H.
• Build the surroundings and the level of foundations in accordance with local and state
legislation and regulations.
• Take into account the recommendations in ICAO Annex 14.
All the dimensions in the rain gauge foundation
figures are in millimeters.
