3.1 Preparing for Installation
1. Select the site.
2. Plan the layout of the site.
3. Arrange for the civil works with reference to the site layout plans, including concrete
foundations for the mast and sensors, outdoor cabling, and overvoltage protection.
4. Install the AWS Client to a laptop and collect all required information needed to
configure the system.

5. Collect all tools required for the mechanical installation.
3.2 Selecting Location
To acquire representative ambient measurements, it is important to find a suitable location
for the automatic weather station. Select a location that is representative of the general area
of interest. See also local and WMO recommendations.
3.3
Placing System
3.3.1 Placing Mast
Allow sucient clearance for the mast to be lowered and erected. Provide access to the
sensors in the lowered mast and leave room for the equipment enclosure when lowered.
To protect the humidity and air temperature sensor from direct sunlight, always use a
radiation shield.
