– Unscrew bolts -arrows- and remove coolant connection with
coolant hose.
– Remove thermostat from coolant pipe.
Installing:
Note
There should be a metal sleeve -arrow- in the coolant connection.
If this is missing, the coolant connection must be replaced.
– Clean sealing surface for O-ring.
– Insert thermostat into coolant pipe.
• Installation position: the edges on thermostat and on housing
must align -arrows-.
– Moisten new seal with coolant and fit on coolant connection.
– Fit coolant connection with seal and tighten bolts alternately
and diagonally.
Specified torque: 5 Nm.
– Secure coolant hoses to intake manifold.
– Add coolant ⇒ page 158 .
– Install noise insulation ⇒ General body repairs, exterior; Rep.
gr. 50 ; Noise insulation .
Checking:
– Heat thermostat in water.
Starts to open at 89 °C
Opening at 100 °C: 9 mm

sender for engine temperature regula‐
tion - G694-
Note
The temperature sender for engine temperature regulation -
G694- is located between intake manifold and alternator in cylin‐
der head.
