Removing:
– Turn engine -at vibration damper- to setting marks.
• Ground tooth of drive sprocket -arrow A- must align with bear‐
ing joint.
• The marked hole -arrow- must be in line with the mark on the
oil pump.
Note
This position is reached only after every 4th full rotation.
Cams -A- of cylinder 1 must face each other.
– Removing camshaft adjuster ⇒ page 64 .
– Unscrew securing bolts -1- and -2-. Remove guide rail -A-.
– Remove camshaft timing chain out upwards.
Installing:
Condition:
• Crankshaft is at »TDC« position
• Chain drive sprocket for high-pressure pump is fixed in place
with adjusting tool - T10363-
• Camshafts have been fixed in place with camshaft bar -
T10068 A-
– Guide camshaft timing chain in through hole in cylinder head
from above.
