7.5 Remove/install steering cylinder
Preparing work
Tools:
• Suitable receptacle for collecting the hydraulic oil
• Plugs (different sizes) for closing the oil lines
• Commercially available impact extractor
Technical data
Use a suitable container to collect the hydraulic oil as it drains off and
dispose of it in an environmentally friendly manner!
1. Disassemble the cover panel of the foot well – see “Removing/
installing the footwell cover panel” on page 1-18.
2. Remove screws 1.
3. Remove pin 2 if necessary; drive it out with an impact extractor.
4. Slowly, rotate the steering wheel counterclockwise until the steering
cylinder is completely retracted. While doing this, grab the piston rod in
the painted area and direct it.
