TROUBLESHOOTING
Any of the following fail to light: headlights, high beam indicator light, taillight, license plate light, auxiliary
lights or meter light.
TIP
• Before troubleshooting, remove the following part(s):
1. Side cowlings
2. Front cowling assembly
3. Fuel tank
4. T-bar

1. Check the condition of each bulb
and bulb socket.
Refer to “CHECKING THE BULBS
AND BULB SOCKETS” on page
8-172.
Replace the bulb(s) and bulb socket(s).
2. Check the fuses.
(Main, headlight, ignition, fuel injec-
tion system, backup and hazard
lighting)
Refer to “CHECKING THE FUS-
ES” on page 8-173.
Replace the fuse(s).
3. Check the battery.
Refer to “CHECKING AND
CHARGING THE BATTERY” on
page 8-174.
• Clean the battery terminals.
• Recharge or replace the battery.
4. Check the main switch.
Refer to “CHECKING THE
SWITCHES” on page 8-169.
Replace the main switch/immobilizer unit.
5. Check the dimmer/pass switch.
Refer to “CHECKING THE
SWITCHES” on page 8-169.
• The dimmer/pass switch is faulty.
• Replace the left handlebar switch.
6. Check the headlight (on/off) relay.
Refer to “CHECKING THE RE-
LAYS” on page 8-177.
Replace the headlight (on/off) relay.
7. Check the headlight relay (dimmer).
Refer to “CHECKING THE RE-
LAYS” on page 8-177.
Replace the headlight relay (dimmer).
