5. Inspect:
 Primary drive gear teeth
Wear/damage  Replace the clutch
housing.
6. Check:
 Circumferential play
Free play  Replace the clutch housing.
7. Inspect:
 Clutch spring
Damage  Replace the clutch spring.
8. Measure:
 Clutch spring free length
Out of specification  Replace the clutch
springs as a set.
Free length (clutch spring):
39.5 mm
<Wear limit>: 38.5 mm
9. Inspect:
 Dogs (on the clutch housing)
Pitting/wear/damage  Deburr or re-
place.
 Clutch housing bearing
Wear/damage  Replace the clutch housing.
Pitting on the clutch housing dogs will cause er-
ratic operation.
10. Inspect:
 Clutch boss splines
Pitting/wear/damage  Replace the
clutch boss.
Pitting on the clutch boss splines will cause er-
ratic operation.
11. Inspect:
 Pressure plate
Cracks/damage  Replace.
