3. Inspect:
 Electrode

Wear/damage  Replace.
 Insulator

Abnormal color  Replace.
Normal color is a medium-to-light tan col-
or.
4. Clean:
 Spark plug
(with spark plug cleaner or wire brush)
5. Measure:
 Spark plug gap

(with a wire gauge)
Out of specification  Adjust gap.
Spark plug gap:
0.8  0.9 mm
6. Install:
 Spark plug
Before installing a spark plug, clean the gasket
surface and the plug surface.

IGNITION TIMING CHECK
Prior to checking the ignition timing, check all
electrical connections related to the ignition
system. Make sure all connections are tight and
free of corrosion and that all ground connec-
tions are tight.
