1. Inspect:
 Shift shaft

 Shift pawls

 Return spring (shift arm)
3
Bends/wear/damage  Replace.
2. Inspect:
 Stopper lever
Roller turns roughly  Replace.
Bends/damage  Replace.
3. Inspect:
 Torsion spring (shift shaft)
1
 Torsion spring (stopper lever)
2
Wear/damage  Replace.
SHIFT SHAFT INSTALLATION
1. Install:
 Shift shaft
1
 Torsion spring (shift shaft)
2
 Washer
3
 Stopper lever
4
 Torsion spring (stopper lever)
5
 Washer
6
 Hook the spring end on the stopper lever and
the crankcase boss.
 Mesh the stopper lever

with the shift cam
