TRANSIENT ELECTROMAGNETICS PROGRAM
Section 12, Page 13 October 2002
12.5 GATHERING DATA
Upon pressing
Enter
after the parameters are set up in Menu 4 the following screen display is
an example of what you will see with a signal connected to channels 1, 2 & 3. The battery
voltage is measured and the A/D converter is automatically calibrated before each measurement
cycle.
For this example we will set the frequency to 32 Hz, set the number of cycles to acquire to 128,
Transmitter current to 1 amp, and leave the rest of the parameters with the default values. The
signal source for this example is an RC network driven by an NT-20 Transmitter with a 1 ampere
output.
The program will first set up the gains, buck out the SP automatically and then continue to gather
data. Since "standard" gain is the default gain mode, the gain is put into G1 and then G2, and the
input signal is amplified to a maximum of 3.0 volts. See GDP Section 6.5, Gains, for additional
information.
The display is self explanatory, but the following comments elaborate on some of the details.
G0, G1, G2. Gain stages 0, 1 and 2. The first gain stage (G0) is set to a gain of 1, the
second gain stage (G1) is set to 64 and the third (G2) is set to 1.
Atn. The attenuator is bypassed (set to OUT). The designation of OU*, indicates that
the attenuator is fixed in the OUT position.
SP. The values of SP that have been bucked out are 3.24 mv for channel 1, 4.09 mv
for channel 2, etc.
