Replacing the Wedges
The four wedges (part number 3527279-1), located on the Carrier Assembly, center the Valve Plate
on the Carrier Assembly.
To replace the wedges:
1. Perform the "Preparation and Safety" procedure.
2. Open both Carrier Assembly latches by pulling down on the end of the latches.
3. Remove the Carrier Assembly from the Valve Plate and Valve Body.
4. Remove the slider (see "Replacing the Slider").
5. Note the orientation of the wedges and push out each wedge from the outside of the Carrier
Assembly.
6. Insert the Wedge Insertion Tool (part of the CP Valve Tool Kit) part way onto the Carrier
Assembly.
7. Insert two new wedges into the Wedge Insertion Tool and slide the Tool farther onto the Carrier
Assembly.
8. Insert the other two new wedges into the Wedge Insertion Tool and slide the Tool fully onto the
Carrier Assembly.
9. Put the Wedge Driver Tool (part of the CP Valve Tool Kit) into the v-slot of the Wedge Insertion
Tool.
10. Tap the Wedge Driver Tool with a hammer to push the wedges into position, ensuring the back of
each wedge is against the Carrier Assembly body.
11. Reinstall the slider.
12. Insert the Carrier Assembly on the Valve Plate.
13. Close the back Carrier Assembly latch. This ensures the Carrier Assembly is locked into the hole
in the piston stem.
14. Close the front Carrier Assembly latch.
