Using MC5P as a Hart Communicator
If you want to use MC5P
as a Hart communicator
without measuring/con-
trolling the instrument’s
output current, connect
MC5P as shown in the
adjacent picture. Again,
make sure that there is
a resistor (or enough re-
sistance) in the loop to
enable Hart communica-
tion.
Test Diode Connections
MC5P also supports HART
®
communication while measuring cur-
rent parallel to a test diode in a 20 mA circuit. The external connec-
tions vary depending on the diode connection of the transmitter:
